There was some confusion on the dates for Opening of Fishing Season in Minnesota. The date is May 15. But Moms living in the state get a jumpstart and can get out the fishing poles on May 8-9 the weekend of Mother’s Day.
Recently we were reminicing about the long lines of cars bumper to bumper on Hwy 169 on Opening weekend winding their way to Lake Mille Lacs. Sounds like it might be like that again in 2021. Great news for all the resorts like Izatys Lodge and all the restaurants and businesses waiting for the start of a good season.
Of course the discussion turned to how Grampa caught the biggest fish and little Jonny caught the most fish…inevitably my wife got out the scrapbook to verify that it’s actually the Moms who do their share of reeling in the big ones. The picture below is an actual catch from Mille Lacs back in the day when we lived in Cove Bay….and the neighbor used to yell at us for trolling too fast.
