The Problem :
When there is an incident at a school, some schools have only one method to contact police with a local phone call. Calling 9-1- 1 usually gets the school location information to the authorities. However, once the responders are in route or arrive at the school there is no clear line of communication to them to quickly assess the situation and find the exact location of the event to gain control of the incident. What if the school personnel, principal, administrator, security staff, or others could talk directly to the responders? Time critical and crucial information from where the incident is occurring could inform the responders with up-to-the-second information so they could respond with the best equipment and personnel to manage the incident. Lives could be saved. Incidents could be controlled more quickly.
The Solution :
Real Time Communication with First Responders & 911 Each patrol car, fi re engine, and ambulance has a two-way radio installed to allow rapid communications between these fi rst responders and their dispatch center or Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP where 911 calls are answered) to control and coordinate their safety and lifesaving actions. Most offi cers and fi remen also carry a handheld radio on the same radio system.
School Safe is the exact same type of public safety radio, and a second radio associated with the communications used within the school. Ballistic Storm Shelter Safe Rooms
Like everyone else in America, we watched in horror the deadly shooting tragedy of the Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown Connecticut in 2012. And then, only a few months later, the deadly EF5 Tornado that hit the Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore Oklahoma. After seeing these crisis events and saying “somebody ought to do something,” we realized that we are “somebody”. No child in Sandy Hook or in Plaza Towers, or so many other crisis events would have died if they had a small multi-propose (also serving as a little nook reading/ quiet/tutoring room) bullet proof/storm proof shelter sitting only a few feet away from their desks in the corner of their classroom or gymnasium or cafeteria. They would literally be only seconds from safety regardless of where they are during their day at school. The unprecedented massacre of 20 first graders and six teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012 was a wake-up call for many Americans, including the founders of Alternative Defense Strategies LLC.
