PANDEMIC FLU CRISIS PLAN

PRECAUTIONARY LEVEL:

The school will send information home to parents informing them of updated hygienic methods for coughing, sneezing, and washing of hands. Parents will be informed that it is vital to reinforce those hygienic practices at home. The school will also remind parents that school policy regarding fevers will be enforced (students must be free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school).

DEFINITIONS

  1. Voluntary Isolation: Staying home to reduce risk.
  2. Voluntary Home Quarantine: Staying home when a member of the household is ill.
  3. School Closure: The school administration of health office has deemed it unsafe to keep school open. Reasons can range from lack or staff or high incidence of illness.
  4. Social Distancing: Suspension of school, school activities, and all other social activities.

SECURITY LEVEL 1:

  • Voluntary Home Isolation is recommended.

SECURITY LEVEL 2 & LEVEL 3:

  • Voluntary Home Isolation is recommended.
  • Voluntary Home Quarantine is recommended if there is an ill family member in the household.
  • Consider Voluntary Home Quarantine, Social Distancing from social activities.
  • The school will review all data and make a decision in conjunction with the Hawaii Catholic Schools Department and representatives from the Dept. of Health on whether the school should remain open or not. Should the school close then the Plan for distance education will go into effect as long as teacher are healthy and the infrastructure allows teachers to communicate via computer.

SECURITY LEVEL 4 & LEVEL 5:

  •  Isolation, quarantine, school, and social distancing recommended.
  • School will be closed. Plan for distance education will go into effect as long as teachers are healthy and the infrastructure allows teachers to communicate via computer.
